There's very little overhead needed granted I had a look at some of the settings afterwards and the ability to change how the vinyl is cut is definitely there it is just, for the average non-professional who doesn’t need 200 pages of numbers and jargon, not necessary as it basically works “out of box”. I needed no external information on how to cut and send information from my computer to the cutter, it's as simple as drawing then cutting. I think for a service to need next to no change, especially when paired with a machine that has no right even working due to its age is a testament to how user friendly the software is, and the intuitive nature of its design. The outcome of the first cut was exactly what I needed and apart from the (Watermark cuts? Or whatever they are actually called) there was nothing that needed changing. The settings needed one item changing and to be told the family my machine falls under (Roland CAMM-1 cx-24 for if you are wondering).
I have some experience with other CAD machines and subsequently other CAD software, never has it worked within 5 minutes of it being downloaded. There was no repetitive tweaking needed, I opened the software and it worked. I plugged it in, open Easy Cut Studio and it worked, that was it.
Given my machine was stated to have no support for my operating system I didn’t really expect much from this. After doing the obvious and just trying to plug it into my computer and trying the first software I was pointed towards. Expecting the whole process to be a mare and a real time sponge I had surrendered myself to what I thought would become a multi-day head scratcher, with a lot of frustration on the side. Before I begin it is important to note that this vinyl cutter isn’t exactly made for windows 10 and doesn’t really like to play nice. Until yesterday evening I had never used any vinyl cutting software nor a vinyl cutter and the only access I had to one was one I was loaned that had been on Earth longer than I had. Writing this review I believe I come from a particularly unique point of view, if not unique then at least out of the ordinary.
